Community Centre Asbestos Scrape & Paint Project | Brighton

The Challenge

MD Environmental was appointed to deliver a controlled asbestos scrape and paint project at a community centre in Brighton. Although scrape and paint projects are often considered lower risk than licensed asbestos removal, they still require meticulous planning, controlled working environments and strict compliance with asbestos regulations to protect both operatives and building users.

Our team constructed fully controlled enclosures, implemented robust containment measures and safely completed the works, ensuring the building remained protected throughout the project.

The project involved carrying out asbestos scrape and paint works within a busy community centre, requiring controlled access and carefully managed working areas. The confined locations meant specialist enclosures and airlock systems had to be constructed while maintaining safe access routes and preventing the spread of asbestos fibres.

As with every asbestos project, protecting the surrounding environment and delivering the works without compromising safety or compliance was the highest priority.

Controlled asbestos scrape and paint project completed at a Brighton community centre

Our Solution

Our experienced team designed and installed fully compliant enclosures, complete with airlock systems and negative pressure units to create a controlled working environment.

Using licensed asbestos control techniques, the team carefully completed the scrape and paint works, encapsulating asbestos-containing materials where required while maintaining strict dust suppression and containment procedures throughout the project.

Every stage was managed in accordance with HSE guidance, ensuring complete compliance from set-up through to completion.

The Result

The project was completed safely, efficiently and in full compliance with current asbestos regulations.

The controlled environment ensured the asbestos works were carried out without risk to the surrounding areas, allowing the community centre to progress with its refurbishment programme with minimal disruption.

Another successful project delivered by the MD Environmental team through careful planning, attention to detail and safe working practices.
