Overview
MD Environmental returned to Fort Halstead to undertake the next phase of asbestos remediation works, working in partnership with valued Tier 1 client, Soilfix Limited.
Following extensive planning and site preparation, our team mobilised to remove asbestos insulation from pipework contained within an asbestos cement sleeve. Due to the nature of the materials and location, the project required carefully designed enclosures, controlled working zones and strict compliance with asbestos regulations throughout.
The Challenge
The next phase of works involved the safe removal of asbestos insulation from underground pipework protected by asbestos cement sleeves.
Working within an active construction environment required close coordination with other contractors, robust planning and meticulous site management to ensure works could progress safely without impacting the wider redevelopment programme.
Specialist containment systems were required to safely access and remove the asbestos insulation while protecting operatives, neighbouring trades and the surrounding environment.
Our Solution
Working closely with Soilfix Limited, MD Environmental designed and installed purpose-built enclosures, negative pressure units, airlock systems and fully controlled exclusion zones before licensed removal works commenced.
Every stage of the project was carefully planned, from mobilisation and notification through to enclosure construction and asbestos removal. Continuous communication between all parties ensured the programme remained on track while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
The project demonstrated the importance of collaboration, preparation and experienced project management on complex asbestos remediation schemes.
The Result
The works progressed safely and efficiently, with all control measures performing as designed throughout the removal process.
