Licensed Thermal Insulation Residue Removal | Fort Halstead
Overview
MD Environmental returned to Fort Halstead to deliver another phase of a complex asbestos remediation programme, continuing works within this historic and highly controlled site.
This phase focused on the licensed removal of thermal insulation residues from wall surfaces, carried out within purpose-built enclosures using specialist equipment and strict control measures. With multiple phases planned across the wider project, careful preparation, containment and monitoring remained critical throughout.
The Challenge
The project formed part of an ongoing programme of licensed asbestos removal, requiring each phase to be carefully planned and executed to maintain safety and compliance.
Before any removal works could begin, specialist enclosures had to be designed and constructed, complete with negative pressure systems, decontamination facilities and continuous monitoring equipment to maintain safe working conditions throughout the project.
Every stage demanded meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the working environment remained fully controlled while allowing the wider programme of works to continue safely.
Our Solution
Our team constructed fully compliant asbestos enclosures incorporating negative pressure units (NPUs), bag locks, viewing panels, degress facilities and dedicated decontamination units.
Continuous pressure monitoring using Pascal monitoring equipment, alongside CCTV monitoring of the enclosure, provided additional reassurance that environmental controls remained effective throughout the works.
Once the controlled environment had been established and tested, our licensed asbestos operatives carefully removed thermal insulation residues from wall surfaces using approved removal techniques and strict decontamination procedures.
Daily inspections, monitoring and close coordination ensured each stage of the project was delivered safely and efficiently.
The Result
The phase was successfully completed under fully controlled conditions, maintaining compliance with all licensed asbestos removal regulations and industry best practice.
The project highlights MD Environmental’s ability to deliver technically demanding asbestos remediation works while maintaining exceptional standards of planning, containment and site management.
As works continue across Fort Halstead, each completed phase builds upon the last, demonstrating the value of careful preparation and experienced project delivery.
