The Challenge
MD Environmental was instructed to undertake specialist works within the boiler room of an operational care home in Surrey.
The environment required careful coordination, as essential services supplying heating and hot water to residents needed to remain live throughout the project. Maintaining uninterrupted building services while carrying out remediation works created a technically sensitive working environment.
The project involved the removal of historic insulation debris from wall surfaces within the boiler room, where materials had accumulated around existing services over time. Restricted access, live plant equipment and the need to maintain a calm environment for residents and staff meant that all works required meticulous planning, detailed risk assessments and controlled working procedures.
