Thermal Insulation Removal – School Half-Term Works
The Challenge
MD Environmental was instructed to carry out thermal insulation removal works within a school environment, scheduled during the half-term shutdown to ensure the site was unoccupied.
The project involved working within confined plant areas, alongside live services, requiring strict controls and careful planning to ensure safety and compliance throughout.
Operating within an educational setting added further complexity, with a tight programme window and the need to complete all works before the return of staff and students.
Our Solution
The MD Environmental team implemented a fully controlled approach, ensuring all works were completed safely and within the limited timeframe.
Key elements of the works included:
- Removal of thermal insulation debris using hand tools and air-compressed needle guns
- Installation of a full enclosure, airlock system, and negative pressure unit
- Encapsulation around remaining live services
- Ceiling overboarding and final floor coating to achieve a clean, sealed finish
All works were carefully planned and executed to maintain safety, containment, and efficiency within the school environment.
The Result
The project was completed safely, efficiently, and within the half-term window, ensuring the site was ready for reoccupation without disruption.
This project highlights the importance of detailed planning and controlled environments when delivering asbestos-related works in sensitive settings such as schools.
Another strong delivery by the MD Environmental team.
